Welcome to Pendleton Bowling Club!

A message to all our members customers & friends at

Pendleton Bowling Club - the Belmont.

Dear Member

The directors have been monitoring the position carefully since lockdown measures were eased in early July. Our hope had been that the restrictions would have continued to be relaxed and that we would see a return to more normal trading.

Unfortunately, that has not been the case.

The combination of not being able to provide functions and the reduction in membership use which is being experienced by other similar clubs, means that we are unable to establish a viable business plan for the club to re-open.

We have therefore decided that the club will remain closed indefinitely and we have unfortunately had to issue redundancy notices to our steward and stewardess, Tony and Janet.

Since taking over the management of the club, the current directors have tried to continue the history and traditions of Pendleton Bowling Club. Trading was proving increasingly difficult before the effects of the pandemic and it is with great regret that we have been forced to take this difficult decision as a result of the current situation.

Looking forward, we will need to monitor the position until we have greater clarity, either from changes in operating restrictions or until there are developments regarding the option agreement for the sale of the premises and we will keep members updated over the coming weeks and months.

The Directors, Pendleton Bowling Club

Dear Member,

The board have decided that the club will not re-open in August. The fact that functions are still not permitted and given the level of take up in pubs generally since lockdown was eased at the start of July, we are left with the unavoidable reality that it is simply not financially viable to re-open in these circumstances.

We appreciate that this will be disappointing news but we hope that members will recognise the challenge we face.

The Board of Directors

Please see the message below from bowling members Adam & Nigel, and also please take note of the rules put in place on 18 July by the board of directors.

Those who have not yet paid their bowling membership can do so on the day.

Hi Everyone

As we all know the bowling green is now back open for internal play and club only competitions. With this news Nigel & I are willing to get some of the comps started asap, of course obeying all the club and government guidelines at all times.

Saturday 25 July 2020 will be our first competition. If anyone wants to play then we ask names to be down no later than 1.00pm. Also we need to remind people that there will be no toilet facilities available for anyone at the club.

Hope to see you down there.

Adam & Nigel
