Welcome to Pendleton Bowling Club!

A message to all our members customers & friends at

Pendleton Bowling Club - the Belmont.

Dear Member

After careful consideration, we can confirm that Pendleton Bowling Club will not be re-opening on 4th July.

There are obviously serious issues for us in meeting the Government guidelines for re-opening and even if these can be satisfied, our bigger concern is the need to ensure we will be able to cover our costs. While there is clearly enthusiasm among some members for re-opening, others have said they are not ready to come back yet and so we believe it is sensible to wait and see what happens during July. This will hopefully give us all a better understanding of the position, although it is impossible to say if we will see any easing on our ability to host functions or an end to the suspension of indoor sports, both of which are essential sources of revenue for the viability of the Club.

We will continue to monitor the position over the course of the coming weeks and to review the position at the start of August.

In the meantime, we would thank everyone for their patience and hope you will appreciate the situation.

The Board of Directors

Notice 26th June 2020

         Dear Member

The Government announcement of a further easing to the lockdown arrangements is  very welcome news and we will now be looking at the detailed guidance to determine the impact for Pendleton Bowling Club.

In line with all other licensed premises, we have a wide range of factors to consider.  In addition to the practical issues to comply with the Government guidelines, we also need take into account the cost of the measures which are required. For many years, Pendleton Bowling Club has relied on the income generated by functions to subsidise the facilities we provide to our members and so this will continue to be an important part of our thinking and plans.

The board has met weekly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and this will continue to be the case as we look to manage the position as lockdown is relaxed and we will keep members updated with regular bulletins on the website.

Thanks and speak soon

NOTICE   18th June 2020

Over recent weeks, the directors have continued to monitor government guidance and to liaise with the bowling section about the practical issues involved to re-open the green. However, a number of items need attention to enable this to work and unfortunately, these are not costs the club is able to commit to at this time.

The financial problems which Pendleton Bowling Club will face in the coming months, as lockdown is eased, cannot be underestimated and the directors believe that our priority must be to retain the resources available to us to meet those challenges.

Taking all of these factors into consideration and also in recognition of our need to ensure the safety of members when visiting our premises, we have with great regret, decided that the green will not re-open and that maintenance to the playing surface and suurroundings will be suspended with immediate effect.

We feel sure that our bowling members will appreciate the reasons for this difficult decision and will recognise that we have an obligation to focus on the wider issues.

We would like like to take this opportunity to thank you and those who have given their time to try to bring about the re-opening of the green and it is obviously disappointing to us all that this has not proved successful.

Bowling Update - 10 June 2020

During recent weeks we have closely monitered government guidance and looked to develop rules to allow bowling to resume. However, after consultation with the bowling committee, it has been decided that this is not currently practical and we will therefore review the position as and when further easing of the lockdown measures are announced.

We hope you all stay safe & well, and we look forward to welcoming you all back soon.
